Why We Started Coutrellé
The story behind the brand — why latex, why small runs, and why fit is the whole point.

Here's the thing: we didn't start Coutrellé because the world needed another fashion brand. We started it because we kept seeing the same problem everywhere we looked — latex that looked incredible on a mannequin and disappointing on a real body.
The problem we couldn't ignore
Latex is having a moment. You've seen it on stages, on red carpets, all over your feed. But when you actually try to buy a piece for yourself, you run into two options: cheap costume-grade latex that fits like a garbage bag and tears the second time you wear it, or couture-level custom pieces with a four-month waitlist and a four-figure price tag.
Neither of those works for the woman we make clothes for. She's not buying a costume. She's not commissioning a gown. She wants a piece she can order this week, wear this weekend, and feel unstoppable in.
So we built the middle that didn't exist: precision-cut latex, hand-finished in small runs, at a price that respects both the craft and your wallet.
Why latex, specifically
Because nothing else does what latex does. Cotton drapes. Silk flows. Latex fits. It moves with your body instead of around it. It doesn't hide your shape — it commits to it. When the fit is right, latex feels less like clothing and more like a decision you made about how you want to walk into a room.
That's also why fit is the entire foundation of this brand. A latex piece that's half a size off doesn't work. Not "works less well" — doesn't work. So we obsess over pattern-making, we publish honest fit notes on every product, and we'd rather talk you out of the wrong size than take your money for a piece you'll return.
Why small runs
Shop the Pieces
CoutrelléEvery Coutrellé piece is cut and finished by hand, in limited quantities. That's not a scarcity gimmick. It's because hand-finishing is the only way to control seam quality on latex — and seam quality is the difference between a piece that lasts years and a piece that splits on the dance floor.
Small runs also mean we never sit on a warehouse of last season's inventory. When a drop sells out, it's gone. We move on, we improve the cut, we release the next one. You're never buying something we designed three years ago and are still trying to clear.
The standard we hold ourselves to
Three rules, non-negotiable:
- The fit has to be right. Honest sizing, honest fit notes, honest returns. If it doesn't fit, we make it right — read our shipping & returns policy if you want the details.
- The material has to be real. Premium natural latex, full stop. No blends, no shortcuts, no "latex-look."
- The piece has to earn its place. If a design doesn't make you stand differently the moment you zip it up, it doesn't make the drop.
